Hammond Lumber was recognized as one of the "Best Places to Work" in the state of Maine
Hancock Lumber (LMC Dealer since 2000), located in Casco, ME, and Hammond Lumber (LMC Dealer since 1983), located in Belgrade, ME, were recognized by Mainebiz Magazine as one of the "Best Places to Work in Maine" in its annual ranking.
After a dip last year in the number of winners, 100 employers throughout the state have been named "The Best Places to Work in Maine" by an annual ranking.
That number ties with the 2019 total as the most ever. In 2020, 84 businesses and organizations made the cut.
Now in its 16th year, the list is compiled by the Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, with the goal of encouraging excellence in employers and recognizing those that have established and consistently fostered outstanding workplace environments.
The organization that manages the ranking program, Best Companies Group, selects the recipients based on information gathered from applicants, including employee benefits, workplace policies and employee responses to a comprehensive satisfaction survey.
Participating companies receive an employee feedback report in an effort to help improve their scores and make improvements in their workplace cultures.
Specific rankings of the winners, categorized by number of U.S. employees, will be revealed in a special publication of endorsing partner Mainebiz. Other partners include the Maine State Chamber of Commerce and the Maine HR Convention.
In a news release Tuesday morning, Gov. Janet Mills praised this year's Best Places to Work in Maine honorees.
"The perseverance of Maine businesses throughout these difficult times has kept people at work, kept products on the shelves, kept services available, and kept our economy moving,” she said. "I congratulate these companies on being named the best places to work in Maine, and I thank them for their many contributions to our state.”
