LMC Women Volunteer at Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia

LMC TogetHER, whose mission is to support women in the industry, proudly sponsored several LMC women in Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia's Women Build. Through LMC Cares, the team rallied donations and support from their colleagues, furthering their commitment to making a difference.

The LMC team, consisting of Melissa Davignon, Jennifer Elphinstone, Deirdre Garland, Jasmine Holmes, Tara Hughes, Nicole Kelly, Kelley McFadden, Brid O'Leary, Kaitlyn Reilly, and Irene Sanders, gathered in the Mantua neighborhood of Philadelphia for a meaningful day of volunteering. This special event, the Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia's Construction Sprint, marked the start of a two-week initiative aimed at creating affordable housing in the city.

During the build, the volunteers worked alongside women from various industries and Habitat staff, helping frame four new homes that will provide much-needed affordable housing.

Next year, Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia will celebrate its 40th anniversary. In that time, the organization has built hundreds of homes, repaired over 1,000 more, and diverted significant amounts of waste from landfills through their two Philly ReStore locations.

The LMC team was proud to contribute to Habitat's lasting impact on local communities. Their participation highlights the power of community engagement and the importance of empowering women in construction.

Deirdre Garland, LMC's Kitchen and Bath Department Manager, who initiated the idea, reflected on the experience: "We had an incredible time at the Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia Women's Build! The energy and enthusiasm from everyone involved were inspiring. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with our fellow LMC women while giving back to the community. Working on this build was a humbling and unforgettable experience."
