During the panel discussion, "Cyber Crime: The Hidden Prey," Eric shared his knowledge on how to protect businesses from cyber-attacks by implementing certain technical precautions and protocols. He was joined by fellow panelists who work in IT within the LBM industry, as well as an FBI agent. Their interactive presentation included sharing stories of previous cyber-attacks, which emphasized the importance of backups and encryption technology as well as the benefits of working with law enforcement. Overall, the audience gained valuable insights on how to safeguard their businesses from potential cyber threats.
When noting the firsthand experience of cyber-attacks to the audience, Eric said “The biggest takeaway I emphasized was making sure that each company has good backups. Our backups were encrypted and allowed a cyber-attack back in 2020 to be minimized as much as possible. Steps such as this can prevent other issues such as ransomware from occurring and getting businesses back on track faster”.
LMC regional managers Mike Tester and Jim Muthersbaugh joined Eric at the conference. Mike and Jim networked with dealers and suppliers at the LMC booth. Eric, Mike, and Jim all enjoyed building relationships and sharing knowledge with fellow LBM industry members to help them prepare for the future and help their businesses thrive.
LMC thanks BMSA for allowing the team to be apart of important conversations within the LBM industry.
