Chris Walton’s Memory Lives on Through His Kindness

Chris Walton, a longtime beloved LMC employee, was well known around halls of 137 West Wayne Avenue as “one of the nicest people you will ever meet.”

Walton tragically died earlier this year, but his legacy lives on through the kindness he showed others – a kindness that helped him establish strong relationships within the industry during his 15 years with LMC.

In memory of Walton, the LMC team raised $4,710 for the Friends of Father Judge baseball program through direct donations. The team is also in the process of raising more funds during its annual “Denim to Dollars” charity drive. Denim to Dollars” is an initiative led by LMC’s volunteer committee, LMC Cares, where employees donate money to two organizations a year. The total sum will then be matched by LMC.

“Chris was an integral part of our team and it was obvious to everyone why our dealers and suppliers gravitated toward him during his time here,” said LMC Vice President of Building Materials John Keeley. “We’re extremely grateful to all the people and organizations that have donated their time and effort to support a cause close to Chris’ heart. He will be missed dearly.”

United States Gypsum (USG) and its USG Foundation that supports a “wide range of organizations that promote social, health, and educational services” contributed another $5,000 in honor of Walton.

“Last year, we launched the Give Local program to support local communities. We work hard to be good corporate citizens and give back to the communities where we live and do business,” said Erika Matias-Goodman, USG National Accounts Manager. “We are proud to recognize this worthy foundation that Chris was so close with.”

While Walton’s time with his loved ones was cut short, the legacy that he built by treating others right and being kind will live on in all the lives that he touched, and all the lives that will be touched by the monetary funds contributed in his name.
